  • Print

A man attempted to abduct a young teenage boy waiting for a bus late Friday night near city hall, police said this morning.

The 14-year-old boy was waiting for a bus at Main Street near James Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. when a unknown man pulled up in his vehicle, said he was a friend of the boy’s mother, and offered him a ride, police said.

The boy fled and contacted police.

The man is described as possibly Caucasian with a slight tanned complexion, 25-30 years of age, with short or shaved hair, a tear tattoo under his left eye, facial hair running along his jawbone and chin from ear-to-ear, and a small patch of facial hair under his lower lip. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.

The vehicle is a Pontiac Sunfire, dark blue or black in colour.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Winnipeg Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
