Two Winnipeg men who got stranded while hiking the Mantario Trail this weekend have been rescued by Lac du Bonnet RCMP.
Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, RCMP got a call from the hikers, one of whom was injured and couldn't carry on with the trail. As weather conditions worsened overnight, the pair called for help.
The Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship and a floatplane helped the RCMP rescue the missing hikers at Ritchie Lake around 4 p.m. Saturday.
RCMP would like to remind hikers to always let someone know when they are leaving on a trip and when they expect to be arriving at their destination. Also, check local weather conditions, bring food, water and provisions to make a fire if need be.
