A whole bunch of middle-aged men were turned into little boys Thursday at the Glendale Golf & Country Club.
Thanks to the Amadeus Steen Foundation's seventh annual golf tournament, they were able to rub shoulders — and compare drives and chip shots — with some hockey legends and current NHL stars. Some observers reported a little friendly trash talk was also exchanged.
More than 200 golfers participated, with each group assigned a celebrity player such as Montreal Canadiens superstar Yvan Cournoyer, former Jets trailblazers Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson, current Jet Zach Bogosian and a couple of St. Louis Blues who were born in Manitoba — Alex Steen and Ryan Reaves.
Some people got to play with radio personalities such as Dave Wheeler, and one foursome was partnered with City of Winnipeg chief administrative officer Phil Sheegl.
Hedberg and Nilsson's Hot Line linemate, Bobby Hull, cruised around the course in a golf cart passing out Romeo y Julieta cigars.
