Nearly $1M grow op shut down in North End

A marijuana grow operation valued at more than $900,000 has been shut down by police after a raid.

The Winnipeg police tactical support team executed a search warrant at a house in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue on Friday, police said today.

Once inside, they found a large, multi-stage marijuana grow operation with 812 plants worth $909,440, as well as 176 grams of marijuana valued at $1,760, grow operation equipment worth $7,500, and $580 in cash.

A 47-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman have been arrested and are facing charges of producing and possessing marijuana for the purposes of trafficking.

The pair have been released on a promise to appear.
