An ongoing house fire in St. Vital has destroyed two homes and could devour a third.

Barry Evans, platoon chief with the Winnipeg Fire Department, was on scene as crews continued to fight the flames encompassing two homes on Nichol Avenue. The fire was originally reported around 1:15 p.m.

Evans said two homes’ attics are under fire and a third adjacent home could be in danger if the fire spreads. The three homes were evacuated and no injuries have been reported.

"We have an aerial ladder put up washing down the homes from above and both homes will probably be total losses each (sic) due to the high heat and humidity," Evans said.
