Norway House resident facing charges for 2012 sex assault on young girl

An arrest has been made in sexual assault case that occurred in Northern Manitoba two years ago.

Allan Apetagon of Norway House Cree Nation has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and forcible confinement in relation to an ongoing RCMP investigation.

Apetagon is alleged to have assaulted an eight-year-old Winnipeg girl in August 2012.

The 25-year-old was arrested on Friday. He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in a Thompson court on Monday.

Norway House RCMP continue to investigate.
