Officer, prisoner in hospital after collision with train

A Dakota Ojibway Police Service officer and his 22-year-old male prisoner were taken to the local hospital with minor injuries on Dec. 2 after the officer's vehicle struck a slow-moving CN train on Highway 21 in the RM of Hamiota.

The officer was transporting the prisoner in the marked 2011 Ford F250 police truck at the time of the collision. Shoal Lake RCMP and other emergency services responded to the scene where fog and icy road conditions were reported.
