Ontario weapons smuggler caught in Sprague sentenced

An Ontario man who tried to smuggle firearms across the Minnesota-Manitoba border received a three-year prison sentence today, the Canada Border Services Agency said in a release.

Dorion Larry Ozykowski, 67, arrived at the port of Sprague heading to Winnipeg on Dec. 20, 2011. CBSA officers asked if he had firearms, to which he replied he didn’t. Officers began examining his vehicle and discovered a prohibited 9mm handgun and a prohibited magazine clip, along with ammunition.

Ozykowski pled guilty to one Criminal Code offence and one Customs Act offence at a Winnipeg Provincial court today.
