Osborne Village, Saint Boniface are national 'great places' finalists

Winnipeg’s French quarter and its hipster district are finalists in a national "great places" contest.

Run by the Canadian Institute of Planners, the contest recognizes outstanding urban spaces. Osborne Street is among the nominees in the great streets category, along with Sussex Drive in Ottawa, Fredricton’s Queen Street and others. Both Osborne Village and Saint Boniface earned a nomination in the great neighbourhoods category along with Roncesvalles Village in Toronto and others.

The shortlist was whittled down from 90 nominations. The winners of the Great Places in Canada contest will be announced at the end of the month.
