Outdoor pools to stay open longer, thanks to heat wave

This week's heat wave has prompted Winnipeg to extend the hours of outdoor swimming pools.

Starting today, five city pools -- including those located at Freight House, Transcona Centennial at 1101 Wabasha St, Westdale at 550 Dale Blvd, St. Vital at 5 Rue Des Meurons, and Provencher pool at 590 Rue Langevin -- will remain open until 8 p.m. until further notice. Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool at 2015 Main St. will also be open until 8 p.m.

As of Thursday, the Lions Outdoor Pool at 969 Dowker Avenue will also be open until 8 p.m.

Spray pads will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at nine locations across the city.
