PUB approves 20 per cent drop in gas rates

The Public Utilities Board has approved a reduction in Centra Gas rates that will save the average homeowner an estimated $67 a year.

The board said Friday that primary gas rates will drop 20 per cent to 8.8 cents per cubic metre as of May 1.

Primary gas rates for customers with fixed-term contracts with either Centra or a private broker are not affected by the ruling.
