Giant yard sale today

You can help the ALS Society of Manitoba -- and maybe score a great find -- by going to the organization's giant yard sale today. Being held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 637 Buckingham Rd., it features furniture, appliances, electronics, books and more. All proceeds support the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House.

 

Coffee break for Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba is celebrating World Alzheimer Month in September by holding its 17th annual coffee break fundraiser on Sept. 20. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 10-120 Donald St. The society is hoping others can organize their own coffee-break event to raise money for the organization. Tea with a twist

The Manitoba chapter of Osteoporosis Canada is holding a fundraising tea on Oct. 21. It features teas from Cornelia Bean, Tea-tinis (cocktails made with tea), a fashion show, music and a rainbow auction. Tickets are $30 and the event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Centro Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave. For more information or tickets call 204-772-3498 or send an email to Manitoba@osteoporosis.ca . Tickets can also be purchased at Cornelia Bean or McNally Robinson Booksellers.

 

Tee off for ALS

The ALS Society of Manitoba is holding its ninth annual golf tournament in honour of Marcel Bertrand. It's being held Sept. 6, and costs $200 to register. Registration includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, power cart, registration gift, buffet dinner and partial tax receipt. For information, call Brian at 204-837-1270.
