Man arrested after armed robbery at convenience store on William

Police were quick to make an arrest after a downtown convenience store was robbed late last night by a man brandishing a knife.

Around 10 p.m., a man wearing a disguise entered the store in the 500 block of William Avenue and confronted a 33-year-old female employee. He went behind the counter, snatched cigarettes and cash and fled the store.

Fifteen minutes later, police found a man in the area and placed him under arrest.

Aubrey Leonard Thomas, 19, has been charged with robbery with a weapon and wearing a disguise with intent. He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
