  • Print

A 25-year-old Winnipeg man on probation has been charged in connection with two recent convenience store robberies.

The first was Friday at 4:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue. The second was just before 4:00 a.m. today, when police observed a robbery happening at a store in the 400 block of Carlton Street. The suspect fled the store on foot and was apprehended by police nearby.

In both robberies, a man went up to the counter indicating that he had a weapon and then demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk. No weapon was seen and neither clerk injured.

Police have charged a man with both robberies and breach of probation. He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
