Police hoping tipsters will call Lamb tip line again

Winnipeg police confirmed new developments in the serial murders of three women by alleged killer Shawn Lamb have prompted investigators to ask anonymous tipsters to contact police again.

Winnipeg Police Service spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said investigators need to talk to some of the anonymous individuals who have contacted a national tip line in the past.

"We’re not dealing with a typical investigation here," Michalyshen said. "The nature of how we move forward with the investigation might not be typical."

Lamb has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Tanya Nepinak, Carolyn Sinclair and Lorna Blacksmith.

Winnipeg police launched a national tip line July 5, in hopes of gathering information about Lamb, a drifter, and his actions.

Michalyshen would not elaborate on the nature of the new developments, but added investigators do need to ask some follow-up questions because of the new developments.

Michalyshen said the national tip line received a lot of calls initially – several dozens, he said, including five locally – but there’s been little activity lately.

Police are hoping they can also generate some new interest from individuals familiar with Lamb.

The tip line phone numbers are 1-855-817-4949 and 204-986-7567.
