Police bust speeder with drugs

  • Print

Central Plains RCMP in Portage la Prairie got more than they bargained for Monday when they pulled over a speeding driver and found a stash of drugs in the car.

Police on patrol observed a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire on Highway 2 in the Rural Municipality of Grey travelling 138 km/h in a 100 km zone, according to a police statement.

The vehicle was pulled over and an investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was in possession of approximately 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, a number of hydromorphone pills, open liquor, paraphernalia related to trafficking and a sum of cash. Hydromorphone tablets are a narcotic pain killer, derived from morphine.

Darly Todd Price, 51, of Cypress River has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court at a later date.
