Police identify man found dead in rooming house

Winnipeg police have formally identified the man found dead in a Balmoral Street rooming house Tuesday afternoon as Ronald Harold McKinnon, 54.

Police acknowledged that McKinnon had been severely beaten before he died but continue to list his death as suspicious pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

While several residents of the rooming house, known in the neighbourhood as Murder Mansion for two previous homicides there, were taken into custody for questioning, there have been no arrests.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service homicide unit at 204-986-6508 or Winnipeg Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
