An inmate has died at Stony Mountain Institution, and police are investigating his death as a homicide.
Duane Edward Taylor, 53, was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday evening. Stonewall RCMP said they received a call for a death around 10:15 p.m. Saturday evening.
Staff members who found Taylor immediately began performing CPR, but he could not be resuscitated. Taylor had been serving a life sentence for first degree murder since 1982.
RCMP are investigating Taylor’s death as a homicide.
Stony Mountain was locked down in April of 2014 after an inmate assault. The last reported death of an inmate was in November of 2013, when Devon Sampson was found pronounced dead in his cell.
