  • Print

A high-speed chase destroyed two hydro poles near Kildonan Park early this morning.

The incident started in Selkirk, when local RCMP responded to a report of a car-jacking on Main Street at around 2:30 a.m. The male suspect stole a car after threatening the victim with a knife. The victim was unharmed in the encounter.

The suspect proceeded to head down Highway 9 towards Winnipeg. RCMP officers pursued the vehicle and notified the Winnipeg Police Service when the suspect approached the city.

At approximately 3 a.m., the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crossed the median and struck two hydro poles near the corner of Main Street and Templeton Avenue.

The suspect then left the vehicle and ran towards Kildonan Park.

Winnipeg police and the RCMP, with the help of the WPS canine unit, continue to search for the suspect.
