Police seek suspect in assault on bus driver

Police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted a city bus driver at Main Street and Broadway late Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect got on the bus at St. Mary’s Road and Riel Avenue. He began to verbally harass passengers. The driver told him to stop, but the suspect continued.

When the bus arrived at Main and Broadway, the man approached the driver and spit at him. He allegedly grabbed the driver, dragged him off the bus and hit him.

The driver managed to push the man away and get back onto the bus. The suspect ran away. The driver was treated in hospital and released.

The suspect is described as in his 20s, 5-10, 170 pounds, clean-shaven, with black collar-length hair.
