  • Print

Winnipeg police have seized 101 firearms, 15 of which are illegally owned, after a investigation Tuesday.

The firearms were found after police investigated a shot gun seized earlier that day from a 54-year-old Winnipeg man.

After a search of a residence in the 400 block of St. Jean Baptise Street, officials seized the 101 firearms, 15 of them restricted or prohibited handguns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

The investigation was done by the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and the Winnipeg Police Service Firearm Investigative Analysis Section.

A 57-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested and numerous firearm charges are pending from police. He was released on a promise to appear.
