Police spot fire at vacant home

Police on patrol spotted an unreported house fire in the North End early this morning.

At about 3:50 a.m., a Winnipeg Police Service general patrol unit discovered the fire at a home in the 600 block of Boyd Avenue.

The Winnipeg fire department was notified. There were no injuries – the home was unoccupied at the time, police said. The building and contents sustained approximately $100,000 damage, police said.

The arson strike force will be investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
