Police suspect arson at site of Viterra fire

Selkirk RCMP released video surveillance Wednesday of a man they suspect is behind a break-in and arson at a Viterra storage shed on provincial highway 8 near Petersfield, MB.
An employee arriving for work Wednesday just before 9 a.m. spotted smoke coming out of the door at the entrance and called Selkirk RCMP. They responded along with the St. Andrews Fire Department and put the fire out. Then the police saw signs indicating a break-in and arson. The building is equipped with video surveillance and a quick review came up with the photos RCMP released Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect is described as slender, wearing a hoodie, gloves and sweat pants. The truck in the shot is described as a dark, four-door Chevrolet pickup with side rails on top of the truck bed.
The arson unit with the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner is investigating the blaze. Police didn’t release a fire damage estimate. There were no reports of injuries, RCMP said. The contents of the storage shed were not disclosed.
Viterra is a Winnipeg company that’s one of the biggest grain handlers in the country.
