Police are warning about a phoney bank inspector who’s targeting seniors.
Const. Jason Michalyshen said the Winnipeg Police Service Commercial Crime Unit has been made aware of a complaint regarding a person posing as a bank representative. This person is targeting seniors, posing as a bank representative, and has personal information regarding the victim's bank accounts.
"This person or persons request assistance in an investigation they claim to be conducting by having the victim withdraw a large sum of money from their account and deliver it to him at a location other than the bank," Michalyshen said. "This is done under the guise of keeping the investigation confidential."
Police are warning that this is not legitimate and is a scam.
