Police issued a warning about a trio of suspicious men targeting children Tuesday. On Monday night, a girl, 9, from a Fort Garry neighbourhood ran for help after a car stopped beside her and two young men tried to lure her inside with them.
She ran off.
The incident took place Monday night about 8:45 p.m. when the girl and her two friends were walking in the 1200 block of Beaumont Street.
Her friends were a short distance away when a vehicle pulled up beside her, the passenger door opened and the passenger said, "Come on, get in." The driver then said "Yeah, get in." A third passenger in the rear did not say anything, police reported.
The girl ran to her friends and all three fled to one of their homes and told a parent who in turn contacted police.
The vehicle is described as a black truck, three windows in rear (sliding window), and possibly two doors.
The trio were described as possibly Caucasian, medium build, short brown hair in their late teens or early twenties.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-2877 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
Parents are reminded to speak with their children about personal safety and discuss proper actions when faced with these types of situations, police said.
