Popularity of route has transit add back buses

The City of Winnipeg dispatched additional buses this morning after buses were overloaded on a Pembina Highway route.
City spokeswoman Tammy Melesko confirmed in an email that transit sent additional buses on route 60, which travels from downtown to the University of Manitoba.
Winnipeg reduced bus service on route 60 due to the launch of rapid transit -- and the new route 160 -- which travels on the transitway between downtown and Jubilee Avenue.
Routes 60 and 160 follow the exact same route on Pembina Highway between Jubilee and the U of M.
Today marked the first weekday of rapid transit service and Melesko said there have been reports that some passengers are unsure of where to catch their buses. However, she said there are staff out at downtown stations, Balmoral Station and Confusion Corner to answer questions and provide directions.
