Greg Selinger can boast of being Canada’s third-most popular premier, says the latest polling numbers from Angus Reid.
The Prairie provinces swept the top three positions in the poll conducted between Nov. 25 and Dec. 3, with Saskatchewan’s Brad Wall in first place with a 67 per cent approval rating and Alberta's Alison Redford in second with 47 per cent.
The online survey of 6,619 Canadians found Selinger has an approval rating of 46 per cent among Manitobans, down slightly from the 50 per cent rating he scored in an August poll by Angus Reid.
Pauline Marois, in her first appearance in the poll as premier of Quebec, had the fourth-highest rating at 41 per cent. Meanwhile, Dalton McGuinty, the outgoing premier of Ontario and the current longest-serving premier in Canada, placed last with an approval rating of 23 per cent.
The poll also measured approval ratings for opposition leaders. Manitoba PC Leader Brian Pallister finished in the middle of the pack with a 47 per cent rating.
Wall has consistently finished in first place among premiers in Angus Reid’s polling over the past year, and has been at or near the top of such polls for four years running.
