Police are investigating a series of fires in Winnipeg's William Whyte neighbourhood in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Firefighters, numerous fire trucks and police converged on the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue beginning at 2:17 a.m.
There were several fires burning at once in that area including a carport, a car, a hydro pole and a fence.
While firefighters got those under control, others responded to a house fire in the 800 block of Pritchard at 2:29 a.m.
A resident in the area told the Free Press there were "police driving around and it does appear they're looking for someone. I do not know if it's arson but more than one fire in a small area going on at the same time is too many for comfort."
Damage in the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue was estimated at $42,000 while damage to the home in the 800 block was about $120,000.
There were no injuries reported and all four fires are under investigation.
A police spokeswoman said more details will be released later this morning.
