The initiative, called Our Circle to Protect Sacred Lives, will focus on preventing trafficking in 15 remote northern communities.
It is being sponsored by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, the province and the Canadian Women’s Foundation.
Our Circle was announced at a press conference at the AMC headquarters on Portage Avenue this morning. The province and the women’s foundation are splitting the $100,000 cost of the program, which will educate communities about the problem and help them build strategies to prevent it.
