Property committee in favour of Whyte Ridge apartment plan

Council's property committee has voted in favour of a plan to build an apartment building in Whyte Ridge.

PreCon builders initially applied to the city to rezone land at McGillivray Boulevard and Dunkley Street in December to build a 92-unit apartment building. The plan sparked intense opposition from area Whyte Ridge residents.

The Assiniboia community committee voted against the application.

Last month, the developer submitted an application to build an 84-unit apartment and eight-unit row of townhouses on the land.

This morning, council's property committee voted in favour of the revised plan.

The plan still has to be approved by executive policy committee and city council.
