Protest march takes to streets

More than 100 people marched through the streets of Winnipeg today upset with the federal government’s omnibus budget bill.

The marchers started at the Magnus Eliason Community Centre on Langside Street and marched to Conservative MP Joyce Bateman’s Corydon Avenue constituency office.

Organizers of the march said they are protesting Bill C-38 which removes provisions for habitat protection in the fisheries act, repeals the Fair Wages Act, and gradually raises the age of eligibility for Old Age Security from 65 to 67 in a six-year period starting in 2023.
