Province directs $600K from crime to police, victims
The province will funnel $600,000 in proceeds of crime to city police and organizations that help victims of crime.
The new grants were announced this afternoon by Justice Minister Andrew Swan.
The bulk of the money will help police buy laptops so that future recruits can have a "portable" training lab, scanning sonar for the dive unit and another automated licence-plate reader to scan vehicle plates in moving traffic.
Police will also get new surveillance equipment.
