The Selinger government says it will add 5,000 more child-care space and spend $25 million to add 20 new or expanded child-care centres over the next five years.
Family Services Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross said today regular annual operating grant increases will also help child-care workers earn more money. The increase for 2015 will be two per cent.
Irvin-Ross also said the province continues to tweak its online child-care registry to make it more user friendly.
She said the province will also create an early learning and child-care commission this fall to study how the child-care system should best evolve over the next few years.
