Public invited to honour Desiree Scott today

Olympic bronze medal-winner Desiree Scott will be honoured today at the University of Manitoba.

The former Bisons soccer player and current women’s team assistant coach, will play a casual game with youths 12 to 18 this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. on the East Field adjacent to the Winnipeg Indoor Soccer Complex on the U of M’s Fort Garry campus.

It will be a fun and free game but registration will be required between 4 and 4:30 p.m. at the East Field.

At 6 p.m., the Bisons will take on the University of Lethbridge in a Canada West regular-season game. At halftime, the U of M will make a presentation to Scott, who helped Canada win its women’s soccer bronze at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Scott will hang out after tonight’s game to sign autographs.
