Manitobans warned about door-to-door natural gas salespeople

  • Print

The Manitoba Public Utilities Board warned Manitobans today to be aware of door-to-door salespersons pushing natural gas contracts.

The PUB said it believes some salespersons are claiming to represent Manitoba Hydro or Centra Gas in the marketing of natural gas contracts to residential customers, the public regulator said in a news release today.

The PUB said it has also had reports that customer's signatures are on natural gas contracts that may have been forged.

The PUB said that door-to-door salespersons selling natural gas contracts are not affiliated with Manitoba Hydro or Centra Gas, but are independent agents representing natural gas marketers.

The PUB said if you suspect you have signed a natural gas contract with a natural gas marketer under fraudulent or misleading conditions, phone the PUB at (204) 945-2638 or via email at publicutilities@gov.mb.ca

Complaints can also be filed to the province’s Consumer Protection Office.
