RCMP arrest hatchet-carrying man

A Dauphin man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, Dauphin RCMP report.

A crowd of people noticed the man carrying what they believed was an axe as he was leaving a hotel Sunday morning, said Dauphin RCMP spokesman Const. Robert Tuff.

One person in the crowd yelled at police, alerting them to the man. The police searched him and allegedly found a hatchet, which was seized.

Police were not able to say why the man was allegedly carrying the hatchet.

The 23-year-old man will make his first scheduled court appearance in Dauphin on Aug. 13.
