RCMP have recovered the body of a 69-year-old man from Surrey, B.C. who was the pilot of the helicopter which crashed near Gillam on July 1.
The pilot's body was recovered Sunday by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team from the helicopter's wreckage at Gull Lake, about 23 kilometres west of Gillam. The RCMP did not release the man's name.
The wreckage of the Bell 206 helicopter belonging to Custom Helicopters of St. Andrews was located July 2 around noon by a military search and rescue team.
The pilot and helicopter were reported overdue after failing to arrive for a scheduled pickup Monday after leaving Gillam around 4:30 p.m. that day.
