RCMP investigating arson in Norway House

Police are investigating an arson in Norway House estimated to have caused more than $1-million damage.

Emergency officials responded to the blaze at the Kinosao Sipi Minisowin Agency building at about 8:30 a.m. this morning.

The CFS agency is inside the building, and the building was currently being enlarged.

Police said they’re treating the blaze as an arson. There were no injuries, said an RCMP D Division press release.

Officers from the RCMP Norway House detachment are investigating what happened, as well as members from the RCMP Thompson Major Crime Unit and the Manitoba North Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST). The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner is also involved.

Anyone with information can call police at 204-359-6715, or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
