RCMP investigate homicide on First Nation

Cross Lake RCMP are investigating a homicide that took place at Pimicikamak Cree Nation this weekend.

Cross Lake RCMP responded about 3 a.m. Saturday to a report of a stabbing. A 26-year-old man, from Pimicikamak Cree Nation, was taken to the nursing station where he was pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man from Pimicikamak Cree Nation has been charged with manslaughter.

The victim’s name and the name of the accused are not being released. The two were known to each other.

Pimicikamak Cree Nation is 530 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
