RCMP officer charged with assault
An RCMP officer in the eastern district is alleged to have threatened and assaulted his common-law partner in an incident last week.
During a police investigation, another allegation of assault was made dating back to February.
The officer was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats. He has been released on a promise to appear in provincial court in April.
The victim did not suffer injuries or require medical treatment.
The RCMP is not releasing the name of the officer to protect the identity of the victim. The officer has been placed on administrative duties pending a comprehensive review.
