Rabb honoured for his work fighting addiction

Property manager and repeat political candidate Ian Rabb will find himself at centre field on Grey Cup day for his work to help recovering addicts.

Scotiabank named Rabb a finalist today in the National Scotiabank Game Changer competition to recognize local heroes, for his work with Two Ten Recovery Inc.

"Ian will also attend the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto where he will be recognized on the field during the game," an announcement said.

Rabb was selected as a finalist for helping change the lives of hundreds of people in Winnipeg who suffer from addiction.  He founded Two Ten Recovery Inc in 2004, after recognizing the lack of housing for individuals recovering from substance abuse, the statement said.

As a finalist, Rabb could win $100,000 for Two-Ten Recovery.

"Ian is a true community game changer – he is a board member for the Tamarack Rehabilitation Centre, the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba and as a participant in the Manitoba Meth Task Force and he has a great personal story," the statement said.

Rabb, a former city council and MLA candidate, is well known for his grit and his personal story. He overcome a substance-abuse addiction and turned his attention to helping others overcome theirs.
