Robbery suspect arrested
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with several robberies of local restaurants, gas stations and convenience stores.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the string of robberies took place from late December until mid-January. In each case, the lone male suspect confronted the employee of the business with a weapon, stealing cash and cigarettes, before fleeing. No injuries were reported, but one employee was threatened.
Following an investigation by the major crimes unit, 21-year-old Dean Aaron Belanger was arrested Saturday. He is now facing multiple charges including seven counts of robbery with a weapon and breach of probation.
