Rummery announces run for school trustee

  • Print

Carlene Rummery has announced her candidacy for School Trustee in the Louis Riel School Division, Ward 3.

An active volunteer in her daughter's school, Rummery said she has been a member of its Parent Advisory Council for seven years, serving as president for the past two. Prior to that, she sat on the poard of her daughter's preschool at Greendell Community Club.

"I've witnessed first-hand the division working to do what is best for students and the community on the whole over the past few years," she said. "I've also witnessed parents feeling as though the division hasn't adequately addressed their concerns.

"The Division needs to expand upon its efforts to reach out to (and communicate with) parents," she says, "and more should be done to encourage parents to take active roles in the discussions."

Winnipeggers will go to the polls on Oct 22.
