School board, fired Thompson principal reach deal

Fired Thompson high school principal Ryan Land and the School District of Mystery Lake have reached a deal that ended all litigation.

The Thompson school board and Land issued a joint statement this afternoon that he has resigned, the school division withdrew his firing, and all claims have been withdrawn. This week’s arbitration has been cancelled.

The school board set off a furore last year after first publicly rebuking and then publicly firing Land as principal of R.D. Parker Collegiate.

Land has since been hired to a senior management position by mining giant Vale.
