Search continues at Split Lake for missing boater
RCMP and civilians will continue their search this week for a boater missing since last Tuesday night on Split Lake.
Thompson RCMP received a report Tuesday night that the boat of 41-year-old John Edward Sinclair of York Landing had been found empty and running in circles at about 8:30 p.m., 15 minutes after he had left Split Lake and headed back to York Landing.
The boat was brought to shore where it appeared to have been damaged after striking a reef. Witnesses said Sinclair had not been wearing a life jacket.
Mounties, an RCMP service dog and the RCMP underwater recovering team, as well as members of York Landing and Split Lake, began the search for the man and will continue this week by boat.
