  • Print

Winnipeg police have made another arrest in a 2012 slaying.

Johnathen James Felix, 21, of Winnipeg, was found dead in a yard in the 200 block of Balmoral Street on March 31, 2012.

Police said Felix was involved in a drug transaction with a group of men when an argument broke out. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Felix before the men fled.

Relatives of Felix said at the time he was not involved in gangs and had recently moved back to Winnipeg from British Columbia, where he finished high school. They said he planned to pursue a modelling or acting career.

Derek Davin Merrick, 19, was arrested in January and charged with second-degree murder.

Then on Friday, officers found and arrested 23-year-old Tyion Sanderson. He has been charged with second-degree murder and drug charges.

He has been detained.
