Severe thunderstorm warning in place in parts of western Manitoba

A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for western Manitoba, in the Duck Mountain, Minitonas and Camperville areas.

Environment Canada reports that an intense thunderstorm 20 km south of Swan River is moving eastward at 45 km/h. This thunderstorm is capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and torrential downpours. Some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes, the weather office warns.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the rest of Southern Manitoba, with a possibility of damaging winds, large hail and torrential downpours.
