Sex offender arrested after alleged indecent act

  • Print

A Manitoba man branded as a high-risk sex offender is back in custody accused of committing an indecent act that was witnessed by a Winnipeg police officer.

Bruce Gordon Nelson, 53, was arrested this week and is being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Nelson is suspected of exposing and pleasuring himself at the intersection of Sargent Avenue and Toronto Street in the West End on Wednesday, according to court records. A police constable is the named victim of the offence, the records show.

Nelson also faces a charge of breaching a probation order handed to him in provincial court last year.

Nelson has prior convictions for indecent acts towards children, public nudity and child-pornography offences.

Police and Manitoba Justice warned of Nelson's release from custody last April, stating that female children were at risk.
