Shaw Communications Inc. has signed a long-term agreement with the City of Winnipeg to improve the city’s network access and connection by providing a sophisticated Virtual Private Local Area Network Service (VPLS).
The agreement has Shaw Business creating separate VPLS domains for each of the city’s business units as part of a 42-site network.
The new network will prioritize data traffic and Internet connectivity for the city’s vital services, including the City of Winnipeg’s Libraries, police services and Water and Waste.
The deal also means Shaw WiFi will be provided in Winnipeg’s libraries at no cost.
