Firefighters inhale freon at single-storey home fire

Medical help was rushing to help two firefighters who reportedly inhaled Freon that burst from an air conditioner during a fire.
Freon is defined as a volatile derivative of methane and ethane, which has been phased out in newer equipment.
The firefighters inhaled the substance while extinguishing a blaze in a single-storey home in the 1900 block of Alexander Avenue, according to an initial report from the scene.
The house was badly damaged but no residents were injured.  There was no immediate indication of the cause.
